Operation
Teddy Bear is a total volunteer operation to bring
joy & comfort to others
|
Everybody
needs an unconditional friend - and there
are some that need it more than others!
What a great way to give some of your joy
to others than to give a stuffed animal
who can be that friend to someone in
need.
It
doesn't need to be ONLY a teddy bear - it
can be ANY stuffed animal!
(see
our Needs and
Pleads).
We want you... we need you.. we beg you to
think of Operation Teddy Bear.
If
you have a herd of animals, Beenie Babies,
etc, you would like to donate, please call
us and we'll tell you where you can bring
them or ship them.
Where
do we give our animals? The elderly and
children who need a friend. Can you help
us help them?

Due
to personal issues and family health
related problems, our head bears had to
step away and focus on their own families.
We will miss Bonnie and Joanie immensely,
and wish them luck. As a result, former
co-bear, Pauly, will be filling in as head
bear.
Geri
B - founder of Operation Teddy Bear will
continue as a volunteer, with a little
help from co-bear, Pauly.

Your donation of your stuffed animals will
make children and elderly alike know that
they have a cuddly furry friend.
Update
from Bonnie - Chairperson - October
2006
Hi
Geri,
I hope all
is well at your end and that you had a
great summer. It sure went by
quickly.
Over the
last few months, I have collected animals
from over a dozen people...from Colorado
to New York and in between! I must have at
least 400 animals here now, but Joanie and
I will be giving them to good homes the
end of October to help with the upcoming
holidays. I had a couple call me who lives
in Aurora and their boys had a
"charity-stuffed animal drive" with the
sports team they play on. My goodness --
they had collected 30 bags of great
animals!! Mostly large ones, but I have
never seen so many animals in one place!
What a blessing. We have a couple groups
that want to give them to kids for the
holidays so I'm anxious to help them
out.
I'll keep
you updated after we deliver all the
animals for the upcoming holidays. By the
way, did you have some special places that
you gave them to last year for
Christmas?
Stay in
touch. God Bless!!
Bonnie
Letter
from one of the original Co-Founders of
Operation Teddy Bear - October
2006
Hello
Bonnie,
You don't
know me but my name is Rachel and I know
Geri and helped her start this program. I
heard that you and some others had taken
over and were doing really well. That
makes me really proud to have someone help
out and keep this going. Let me know if
you need anything, help, funding, or
anything like that and I will see what I
can do; or if you just want to talk. I
live in Sacramento, CA. Again, thank you
so much for keeping this going and doing
such a great job. It takes a strong woman
to make changes and you are truly doing
just that. Have a good rest of the
year.
Best
regards,
Rachel
Update
from Joanie - Marketing Director - Head
Teddy Bear - July 2006
Hi
Geri,
Just wanted to let you know what is going
on. This Wednesday the 26th is a big day
for delivery. I have taken the day
off and will be distributing toys though
out the Metro Area. My first stop is
at 9:00 at the Ramada Inn on I-25 and Zuni
Street . I am meeting Laura from The
Coalition for The Homeless who is having a
children's health fair on August 10th. She
will be receiving all of our smallest
animals to give to the children when they
get their shots. The next stop will
be at Camp Comfort for the July 28th
Session which is the bereavement camp for
kids ages 6-12. I will be
taking all of our medium sized teddy bears
to Louisa.
The last stop will be Luthern Hospital
where they will be collecting another 100
misc. medium sized animals for their
elderly and children's wing. That's
what is on the agenda for this week.
Bonnie has been collecting bunches and
distributing as well. I will give
you an update on how my deliveries went.
I will be out of the office until
the 31st so expect to hear from me at that
time.
Hope all is well I miss your company,
Joanie

Update
from Joanie - Marketing Director - Head
Teddy Bear - June
2006
Hi
Geri,
Hope all is well. Bonnie and I have been
very busy collecting and delivering teddy
bears to some very grateful recipients.
Last week I called Hospice of St. John to
schedule a drop off. They were very
excited when I told them what I have been
doing since being a volunteer at their
facility in Lakewood. They were very
pleased to receive the boxes of animals
which will be handed out to those in need
of a friend.
As I was unloading my boxes, there sat an
older woman outside and was watching as I
took animals out to condense them into a
box I could carry. The first
box contained a rather large Winnie the
Pooh bear which she spotted right away and
watched me carry him into the building.
As I came out for my second load she
yelled to me and asked if I had a teddy
bear for her. I told her I had LOTS
of teddy bears. She asked if I had a
Big One. I told her I had LOTS of
big ones and then expressed that she
wanted Winnie. She told me she was
moving her chair into the shade to make
sure I would find her. I was right
out with her treasure as she waited with
her arms open wide as if I was giving her
the world. I gave her a big hug and
a kiss and she said I have a Winnie
(gesturing about 2 tall) But not one like
this one. I was so touched by her
genuine appreciation and as I walked away
she said And he smells good too! It
was like God smiled on her and on me a
memory I will always treasure.
Just thought I would share.
Joanie
PS I am in the process of getting a
teddy bear drive at my church. I
will keep you posted on the
progress.

Update
from Bonnie - ChairPerson - Head of
Enthusiasm
Hi
Geri,
Hope you are doing well. I was just
thinking about you....here's an update on
what I've been doing:
I sent three stuffed animals to the
children where the mother sent you an
email asking for a present for them.
I haven't heard if they liked
them...but I'm sure they did. I put
a little note in their package also.
I have collected over 200 animals in the
last couple months and recruited a couple
more volunteers who live in Firestone, CO.
That's north of where I live, so now
we have three drop off
locations...Joanie's house, my house, and
now Sandra's house.
This week we will be going to the Denver
Rescue Mission. They are making
Easter baskets for the little kids and
asked for 100 little animals to put in
their Easter baskets. We wrapped
them in individual bags as you taught me
and are anxious to deliver them.
We will be delivering about 50 more to the
Luthern Medical Center, Elderly unit
also.
We are all anxious to go to garage sales
and get more animals. Every time I
get a new batch, I just smile and smile
and get attached to all the little
critters! My son, who's 24, even
giggles when he comes over and sees all my
new friends! I continue to organize
myself with all them though....I get
several "holiday" animals so I'm
separating them in themes. This
Christmas should be fun....I have a ton of
Christmas bears!
Anyway, I hope you're doing well.
Say hi to Paul for me and I hope
he's well also.
God Bless,
Bonnie
